Sati Rebirth Ritual
The rebirth experience is a ritual that calls upon the four elements–earth, water, air and fire to be in perfect alignment with the powerful energy of the Tepozteco mountain. Sati comes from Sanskrit, a vernacular language spoken back in the time of the Buddha, 2500 years ago, which means awareness, to be mindful and live in the present moment.
This ceremony makes use of the energy that emanates from the mountains, from the sacred Stupa located here and from the visitors seeking–time and again, for a new beginning. The ritual starts with a guided walk through a Celtic-inspired labyrinth. Then the Spirit of Fire is called to cleanse the aura with copal and native incense as a prelude to enter the Temazcal of rebirth, where vapors emerge from red-hot volcanic stones infused with local medicinal herbs.
The final phase of this transformational journey that balances mind, body, and spirit is performed under the Stupa that was built as per request of the Dalai Lama for the World Peace Movement, as a reminder of impermanence, emptiness, and as a recognition that everything that has the nature to arise (emotions, thoughts, sensations, sounds) as the Buddha would say, will also pass away.
